Quick Start

This guide walks you through the high‑level steps to start using Vitu APIs, end to end.

Create a Developer Account

Start by creating an account in the Vitu Developer Portal. You'll get a Personal Account with Sandbox access right away — no business approval required to start exploring.

Already have an account? Sign In

Building on behalf of a company? You can request a Business Account once you're ready (see Step 5).

Generate Sandbox Credentials

Navigate to Teams & Credentials and generate Sandbox credentials. This will provision:

  • Client ID
  • Client Secret
  • Once generated, you will be automatically redirected to the Applications page.
  • A new Sandbox application will be available to begin registering and testing APIs.
Register API Products

For your new Sandbox application, select the Vitu API product(s) you want to use and register them to your application.

In Stage and Production, you don't need this step - when your access request is approved, Vitu registers the product(s) you were approved for to the application it creates for you. You can request additional API products at any time based on your needs.

Make Your First API Call

With credentials and subscriptions in place, you can interact with Vitu APIs directly within the Portal. Use the Sandbox environment to:

  • Generate an access token
  • Call a sample endpoint
  • Review responses and errors in a risk‑free setting
Request a Business Account

If you're building on behalf of a company — or want to collaborate with teammates, share credentials and applications, or move beyond the Sandbox — request a Business Account from the Teams & Credentials page.

Go Live!

Stage and Production access require an active Business Account (see Step 5).

Once your Business Account is active, request Stage or Production access from the Teams & Credentials page, and tell us which API product(s) you need.

When your request is approved, Vitu does the setup for you:

  • Creates your Stage or Production application
  • Registers the API product(s) you were approved for
  • Issues the Client ID and Client Secret for that environment

Some products — including state EVR and MVR inquiry APIs — carry additional state program requirements. Review Product Access Requirements before requesting Stage or Production access.
